Lynne Cardinal
Lynne has been teaching and giving lectures and workshops on Stress Management, Yoga, and Meditation for over 25 years in Canada, Europe and India.
She studied Eastern Philosophy in India from where she received a Ph.D. in Eastern Philosophy. She lived in India for over 15 years, first studying, then teaching at the Institute. She came back to Ottawa in 1998 and has enjoyed sharing and teaching ever since.
She co-produced, with her partner Jurgen, several books and CDs on the Yoga Sûtras and meditation; she also published a French book on Meditation entitled : L’art de la méditation, which is an in depth introduction to meditation. She also completed the 3 day Integral Coaching® Fundamentals course. She and her husband Jürgen are volunteers for Palliative Care with the Friends of Hospice Ottawa.
Lynne often co-teaches with her husband Jürgen Portz. Jürgen has been studying yoga and meditation since 1990. He spent 3 years deepening his practice (saadhanaa) in India at the IMI Institute during the 90s.
Jürgen has a passion for philosophy, meditation and chanting. He has co-produced with Lynne Cardinal a CD of Sanskrit chants with musical arrangements by Robert Lafond, entitled: Madhuram, as well as a new release of the Yoga Sûtras of Patanjali, chanted and interpreted from the Sanskrit text.
Besides a full-time job as a senior deployment coordinator with a high-tech company here in Ottawa, Jürgen regularly teaches meditation and philosophy classes with his spouse and partner, Lynne Cardinal. He firmly believes in the transformative practice of Yoga and shares this passion with his students.
Lynne and Jürgen are both firm proponents of combining both Eastern and Western approaches to spirituality, they studied extensively the Integral framework and thought of Ken Wilber.
