Move your mind into spring

By Alison Finney

How can I spring-clean my mind?

Spring-cleaning your mind will help you move into spring with more ease, focus, confidence and energy. Here are a few ideas to help you get started:

• Turn off the television and go to the library. Substitute two evenings in the week that you spend watching TV and start reading, writing or another hobby.

• Wake up 10 minutes earlier than usual to do a morning meditation. Sit quietly and breathe deeply: Inhale for eight seconds; exhale for eight seconds. Tune out mental chatter by repeating one word that sounds good for you (try "grace," "kindness" or "peace").

• Look into the future. Where do you see yourself travelling this summer? What home improvements would you like to make in the next few months? What kinds of personal changes would benefit you? Fill your mind with positive thoughts.

Spring-cleaning your mind is your chance to get rid of what you don't want and make room for what you do.
