5 nutrition tips for the road

By Alison Finney

How can I eat healthy when I'm on the go?

You often don't have the opportunity to prepare meals when you're travelling, so here are five easy rules to follow when you're on the road:

1. Choose the freshest food you can find.

2. Look for fresh vegetables, fruits, raw untoasted grains and cereals.

3. Aim to eat at least 50 per cent of your fruit and vegetables raw.

4. Add small amounts of fats in your diet. Choose fats from plant sources such as pure virgin olive oil and sesame oil.

5. Use natural condiments to season your meals like lemon or lime juice, herbs and spices.

These five tips can simplify healthy eating choices when you're out and about.
